Rosenblatt, Joseph
(1882-1933)
   American cantor and composer. He was born in Belaya Tserkov in the Ukraine, and in his youth toured Eastern Europe as a child prodigy. He was initially cantor in Mukachevo, then moved to Bratislava in 1901, and to Hamburg five years later. In 1912 he emigrated to the US where he became hazzan of the Ohab Zedek Congregation in New York. He was the most popular cantor of his time. His collection of sacred songs, Zemirot Yosef, contains many of his best-known works.
